Easy by Degrees

All the barriers that blocked my path
I now just clock as I’m gliding past
Guys hang by try to stop my flow
Lie side-lined as they watch me go

Adjust my course with a delicate touch
Stay on track with the subtlest nudge
A few degrees here is all I need
Ways keep free, clear as I proceed

I’ve crafted a smoother path
I’m taking it easy by degrees

Time was I hated to make a one eighty
A waste in the case
I’d return to the same place
But there’s no disgrace in retracing my paces
And lately I’m grateful
For glorious space full
Of new ways to learn
So when I return
Turns out it’s no wrong turn

In so many respects I’m refreshed by my steps
The traits appear clear in ways I’d never have guessed
reflected in new views recollected then
coalescing when
I make my journey heart open
along paths that I’ve chosen
In every dead end I find life

I’m keeping my eyes sweeping wide
Always wondering, inquiring why
Crafting some different paths
Taking it easy by degrees

I stop, a three sixty
streaming the mix see
every day of the three six five
I’m alive in this place
I’m revived by this space

Now I see what my days lacked
There’s no need to stay trapped
These days I can face facts,
And Ieave my old ways scrapped
I’ve found better ways mapped
and wound my own way back
Stray curves beat a straight track
Past problems erased at
The moment I take that
Fresh chance, and I’ve aced that
At last got my case cracked

cos all of this ground feels solid and sound
With folks who are part of me
people I want to be
Close to, we share paths and we
Take time to feel that way that we feel
